Wahoo named trainer partner to 2022 UCI Esports World Champs – CyclingIndustry.News

Market reports for the global cycling industry
It’s been a busy start to 2022 for Wahoo, the connected fitness business, which has today announced its role as the Official Trainer Partner of the 2022 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships, held on Zwift on February 26th, 2022.
“Building on our partnership with the UCI Road World Championships, we are delighted to support the 2022 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships,” said Mike Saturnia, CEO of the trainer firm.
“The demands of e-racing at this level require the most accurate and consistent data possible, so it’s only appropriate that all athletes competing in the finals will be riding a KICKR…. We wish all the finalists the very best of luck and I’m looking forward to seeing who will be the newly crowned UCI World Champions!”
Out on the road, Wahoo had earlier this week also announced an expansion of the partnership with EF Education, which sees Wahoo join with two of the most fan engaged teams in the WorldTour; EF Education–EasyPost and Women’s WorldTour squad EF Education–TIBCO–SVB.
Leading into a year which will see the first women’s Tour de France since 1989, women’s cycling has seen a number of new sponsorships, including the January announcement that Wahoo would be joining Le Col as a title sponsor of the UK registered UCI women’s team previously named Drops Le Col s/b Tempur, becoming Le Col Wahoo, with a deal to run until 2024.
2021 saw a number of investors embracing cycling, with Wahoo announcing that global private equity firm, Rhône, had agreed to make an equity investment in Wahoo Fitness. Wahoo founder and Chairman Chip Hawkins and the company’s management team made significant reinvestments alongside Rhône. Wahoo’s current private equity investor, Norwest Equity Partners (“NEP”), continues to own a minority investment in the company.
