JOLIET, IL — Paul & Mike’s Transmissions has been on Joliet’s Collins Street since 1955 and now the full-service automotive repair shop is for sale.
Keith Conroy of Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate Group is trying to sell the building for $585,000, noting in the real estate listing that it is “Joliet’s first transmission shop.”
Paul & Mike’s is at 232 Collins St. Joliet Patch published a human interest story on Paul & Mike’s Transmissions in April 2020.
Paul & Mike’s is a full-service auto repair shop. The business repairs engines, suspensions, brakes and specializes in rebuilding transmissions.
According to Friday’s real estate listing on LoopNet, the $585,000 sale includes all the equipment plus the auto repair shop building, which is 8,343 square feet. The auto shop business has six lifts and one bay large enough to service a motor home.
All the inventory will be included in the sale, the LoopNet listing indicated.
During the 2020 interview, Joliet Patch asked the Collins Street auto repair shop how Paul & Mike’s stayed in business the past 65 years on Joliet’s east side.
“The business is word of mouth,” George Mormann told Joliet Patch. “We do have second and third-generation customers.”
